Date: September, 1988
Patient: 65 yo Caucasian male.
Dx: Mal perforans ulcer on b/l great toe

Medical History:
Condition diagnosed: morbid obesity complicated with diabetes mellitus with
neuropathy. Patient was confined to a wheelchair. Patient was treated for 4 months by
physician with antibiotics Ciporfloxacin 500 mg BID, Ampicillin 1500 mg Q6H for infection.
Blood pressure was controlled with Naldolol 40 mg. Patient was also on Novolin (insulin).
Patient's toes were treated long term with Fibrinolysin with Desoxyribonuclease (Elase)
ointment. After 11 days in the hospital and the risks associated with non-healing wound,
X-rays were taken which document the pre-treatment condition.
Treatment: Twice daily application to ulcerated area.
Total Number of Treatment Days to Declared Healing: 23 days
* Within 6 months after healing of ulcers, patient wore ill fitting shoes a second time
and new ulcers (as before) reappeared. Ulcers were healed a second time in 26 days.

Patient: 80 yo Caucasian female.
Dx: Coccygeal pressure ulcer (stage 4).
Medical History: Patient has history of poor health for many years. In
the last 4 years she developed late onset diabetes mellitus. Health continued to erode
until she was bedfast and incontinent. She was admitted into the hospital for a feeding
tube and subsequently developed a stage 4 ulcer on the coccyx.
Physicians used standard therapies for healing of the wound and control of infection.
In late 1992, the prognosis for healing was doubtful. Treatment regimen began on November
9, 1992.
Treatment: Twice daily application to ulcerated areas.
Total Number of Treatment Days to Declared Healing: 81 days.
